Ky Sturges runs the Phoenix DIY shop.

Ky is part of the bigger Phoenix team of competent techs who – if home help is necessary – can be dispatched without delay. He has 30+ years in the field and knows things.

One of those things he knows is that there are times when you just want to do it yourself. We’re contractors, we get it, but Ky is one of those rare types who have a talent for helping you build the skills and confidence to trust your instincts, so we caved and gave him a shop.

Fact is people come in to the DIY Shop all the time looking for fittings, plumbing supplies, electrical supplies, you name it, so we thought they might find it helpful to know that now you can just buy them on the spot. Ky is your guide. He will listen to your needs and requests and point you in the direction of what you’re looking for, often by way of handing it to you. If we don’t have it in stock, he’ll source and order it for you at no extra charge. Phoenix carries an array of parts that other stores in town do not. We’re a specialty shop.

The DIY Shop is the result of a recognition that while people are aware that Phoenix is a full-service contractor that can take care of whatever needs taking care of, the fact that sometimes there’s no substitute for getting your hands dirty doesn’t actually conflict with our conception of our role in the community as problem solvers.

Straight talk: at the end of the day, since we believe in promoting self sufficiency, that means we also believe in making sure you have the tools to be your own home hero, if that’s what you want. Being a group of DIYers is almost the definition of a contracting company – we fundamentally sympathize with your urge to take care of business, and we stand ready to fill any gaps in your workflow. You love the craft and so do we. What else is there to say?
